Once upon a time,
We were beautiful.
The scent of crushed flowers in a book,
Our breath was just as still.
As dawn.
Drew pictures worth a thousand untold words.
Wrote poems on feathers of birds,
From far-off lands,
Lands of fireflies & mermaids.
The first ray,
Everyday,
Brought a new way.
And we asked mother to kiss us farewell,
As we had to go there...
Once upon a time,
We were hopeful.
Once upon a time,
We were beautiful.
